Republicans of Logan County Unite!!!

Vote for Phillip Williamson II for Logan County Delegate to the State Republican
Convention!!!
Yes,
friends and readers. I am running for the... well, you can read. I saw on the
local news that you could represent your county for the State Republican
Convention and I dug until I found out how. As you can tell by reading my site,
I have a deep interest in politics and have always aspired to be a statesman one
day. I figured that this was a good starting point for a young man who doesn't
want his current plans for education interrupted, wants to get started in the
world of politics, and has a desire to help his neighbors and fellow citizens.
I will tell you what I know of the position so far. As your delegate, I would
attend the State Convention in Charleston on the behalf of every Republican in
Logan County WV. There, the convention votes on Presidential candidates and
representatives to the national convention. According to my source in the GOP,
the convention votes count almost as much as your votes for the Republican
presidential candidate- I do not agree with this method, but that is why I ask
you to select me to represent you-. I am of the opinion that most of Logan
County Republicans are good conservative people, who desire a good conservative
representative to any office they elect.
I have two groups online, one at myspace, located at
groups.myspace.com/philwill,
and one located on Facebook at
http://wvsc.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2635905708. If you are active on
either, and would support me in my quest to become Logan Counties
Representative, it would be appreciated. Below are my stances on different
issues, along with a short resume, which is listed on both groups.
Phillip on the Issues
Abortion
I will not support a candidate who believes that a baby living inside a woman is
just a part of her body. I believe that abortion should be made illegal, except
in certain extreme cases where the mothers life is immediately endangered by the
continued pregnancy.
Taxes
I support the FairTax (Legislation HR-25 and S-25). This a complete and total
tax reform that abolishes the IRS, lets you keep 100% of your paycheck, and
gives you a monthly "pre-bate" so that you do not pay taxes on "necessities of
life". I believe that the government is engaging in thievery when it takes your
money away before you even see it, and support the FairTax because of this.
Global Warming
I do not believe that mankind can do anything to stop or change the global
temperature cycle that is currently in a warming stage. We are discovering
islands, mines, and new signs of civilization farther and farther north,
indicating that this is not the warmest this earth has ever been , or probably
ever will be. I believe measures such as the Kyoto agreements do nothing but
hinder developing nations and will hurt the world overall.
War on Terror
While I believe that the War could have been handled better, I still and always
have supported the Administration's decision to go to war. Chemical and
biological weapons were found in Iraq, however, not in quantities that people
wanted to see. Al Queda was decimated in Afghanistan. The Iraqi people are a
happier more liberated people now, a more democratic regime was established in
Afghanistan and that is reason enough to support the war.
The Second Amendment
I believe the Second Amendment to our constitution should be interpreted to mean
that the citizens of our country are allowed to own weapons to...
1) Protect themselves
2) Protect their families
3) Protect their Property
4) Protect America
5) Protect themselves from a corrupt American Government that would deny them
the rights laid down in the US Constitution.
I am not advocating militias, even though the second amendment states that
militias are necessary for the security of a free state. Not to protect the free
state from outside sources, but to protect the people from a corrupt state. The
second amendment has nothing to do with rights of hunters, even though hunting
is a worthwhile activity that a firearm can be used for.
Border Security and
Immigration
I believe that immigration is a wonderful thing, when done in the legal and
proper way. Unfortunately, it takes so long, and is so difficult for an alien to
get a visa to be allowed in the US; that they might as well just jump the fence
and come on over, because they know they will not be persecuted and evicted from
the US for their crimes.
To many Americans have died by the hand of illegal aliens in this country. I am
not for Immigration Reform, I am for the enforcement of our current laws, and
-this is my own personal wish which will never become reality- a wall that
covers our border and extends deep enough underground that diggers would be
discouraged. Give our Border patrol agents the liberty and ability to do their
jobs, which is protect out border by any means necessary, and the disaster that
we have now will turn into a mere nuisance.
Video Games
Having been a video game lover since the days of Super Mario and Duck Hunt, I
believe that video games, in fact, do not push young men and women to violence.
I believe that parents need to exercise responsibility when choosing which games
their children play, for some games really are to graphic for younger children.
However, I have yet to see any solid evidence for a link between violent video
games such as Halo and Doom, and real life violence. Blaming violence on video
games is, I believe, a tactic used in attempt to convince the average parent to
let the government take more responsibility for the raising of the child,
something no good parent should want.
Tolerance
We as Americans are a tolerant people, whose Constitution makes no room for
favoritism in government. We are more than happy to help others, no matter how
they are different than us, and will often go out of our way so as not to offend
anyone of anything. Tolerance and Politeness are things that I hold in high
regard. However, when one group wishes to infringe its beliefs and practices on
the majority, the majority should not step aside. Respect one another, one
another's beliefs, and one another's practices. Do not attempt to infringe them
on anyone else, or sue anyone else because they offended you. The First
Amendment protects your right to be offended, it does not guarantee that you
won't be.
